Morning Outing, Or Small Things Loom Large

Handsome b/w rooster with lovely red hen and nondescript white hen facing away from the camera 🙂

This morning Mike and I had an outing which took up half the morning. First, we drove to the home of Maureen, book club member who currently has custody of the book club’s books. I turned in my old ones, found a few to take out and spent 10 minutes chatting with her on her sunny front doorstep. We then moved on to a woodyard that delivers wonderful firewood and ordered a load to come tomorrow. Whenver I go along with Mike, there are always lots of cars there, but today, for the first time ever there were no other customers around, though I’m sure they’re doing good phone ordering service, what with winter just around the corner.

Los Lenos woodyard – in good order as usual, beautifully stacked, with enough free space today to admire it. They also sell several varieties of plant seedlings, herbs and pinecones… animals are friendly, and the little kid cute, but of course we had to keep our distance 🙂

We took a round about way home, and though shopping malls and theatres are still closed, many other businesses are open with mask and distancing protocols. Public transport is functioning well, food distribution is efficient, there are no noticeable shortages. People are working and out and about, often wearing masks but often not, too.

We stopped at a favourite fruit and veggie place for several things including a baguette for lunch. And, as it’s a warm day, we made the most of it and ate lunch out on the terrace. (bad weather’s coming with a storm due tonight) We ate salad and cheese with our fresh baguette, and talked with one of the offsprings on the phone.
